Advaya: A Home That Grows With Its Family
At UnBox Design, led by Architect Aman Issar, every project begins with a simple philosophy—designing spaces that are honest, timeless, and deeply connected to the lives of the people who inhabit them.
Advaya, meaning unique, is a residence in Noida designed for a family of three generations living together. The family approached Aman with a brief that was clear yet layered: to create a home that allowed every member to have their own space, while also providing generous areas for the family to come together. The task was as much about spatial planning as it was about nurturing relationships—designing for both individuality and belonging.
The architecture and interiors respond with restraint and clarity. Clean lines and timeless natural materials form the backdrop, while large openings invite natural light and encourage cross-ventilation, making each room feel connected to the outdoors. Every square inch was carefully considered, ensuring spaces could adapt with the family’s evolving needs, and avoiding excess or waste.
The living room forms the heart of the home, its warm shell defined by natural oak panelling that sets an inviting tone for gatherings. In the master bedroom, an end-to-end solid wood headboard with gentle curves grounds the space, complemented by terracotta artworks on the back wall—an earthy, tactile layer that balances strength with softness. The other bedrooms were tailored to reflect the personalities of their occupants—calm and understated for the grandparents, vibrant and flexible for the younger generation—each designed to feel private yet connected.
While the architectural language remains contemporary and uncluttered, the home’s softer layers draw from Indian traditions. Handcrafted textiles, arts, and crafts were introduced with intention—anchoring the house in its cultural roots while complementing the modern shell. The result is a home that feels warm, lived-in, and deeply personal, without sacrificing clarity of form.
In a time when nuclear living is fast becoming the norm, Advaya stands as a home that grows with its family—preserving balance so that three generations can share, thrive, and create memories together under one roof.
