Set within an industrial compound in Yamunanagar, Four Court House is a 12,000 sq ft farmhouse built incrementally, pavilion by pavilion — living, guest, formal, and service quarters connected by shaded stone verandahs. Four courts anchor the plan: a central courtyard, formal lawns, a temple court, and an arrival court.

For an industrious family with a manufacturing unit in Yamunanagar, the brief wasn't a conventional farmhouse — it was a place to stay when visiting the unit, sometimes for a few days, sometimes longer, and a guesthouse the rest of the time. That kind of intermittent, flexible use called for a different way of building: not one house completed at once, but a set of pavilions constructed incrementally, as the family's needs and timeline allowed.

The plan resolves into four distinct pavilions — a formal living and dining pavilion, a bedroom pavilion with three rooms, a separate guest unit, and a service pavilion — each independent enough to be built at its own pace, yet connected throughout by shaded stone verandahs that tie the compound into a single, walkable whole.

Around these pavilions, four courts organize the site and give the house its name. A central courtyard anchors daily movement between pavilions. A formal court of open lawns sits between the house and the manufacturing unit, marking the transition from work to home. A quieter court at the back houses the family temple. And an arrival court manages the driveway and the first experience of entering the compound — deliberately unhurried, in contrast to the industrial site next door.

Materials stayed honest and unfussy throughout: stone walls run continuously across all four pavilions, tying the incremental construction together visually even as it happens in phases. Natural light and cross-ventilation were prioritized over enclosed, air-conditioned volumes, keeping the house livable through Yamunanagar's seasonal extremes without over-relying on mechanical systems.

This farmhouse and guesthouse project in Yamunanagar solves a problem most family compounds don't plan for — a home that can grow in stages, stay functional at every stage, and still read as one coherent place once it's finally complete.
