A lot of design in this country starts from the outside. We start from the opposite end.
Our first question is never about form. It is about the person: how they live or work, what their days feel like, what a space needs to do before it can be allowed to look like anything.
Unbox is a design and build practice based in Delhi, with studio in East of Kailash. Over a decade of work, a team of around fifteen architects, interior designers and engineers has delivered homes, offices, commercial spaces and hospitality projects across Delhi NCR. Because the design follows the people, our projects tend to look quite different from each other.

Architecture is the art of shaping how a life unfolds inside walls. To do it well, an architect has to be a planner, a builder, and a bit of a psychologist, all at once.
From first sketch to final detail, every Unbox project is designed as one holistic experience — from the inside out as much as the outside in. We build a sense of continuity between a home's private rooms and the street it sits on, and carry that same care from architecture, to interiors, to landscape.

the founder
Aman Issar
Aman founded Unbox after years at Studio Lotus, where he worked on residential and hospitality projects and learned how a practice holds a strong idea through the long, unglamorous process of getting it built.
He founded Unbox in 2017 on a simple premise. Design should start with the people who will use a space, not with a reference image, and the architect's job doesn't end when the drawings are issued. Building as well as designing came from the same belief: a space is only as good as its execution.
Today the studio is a team of around fifteen architects, interior designers and engineers, working on homes, workspaces, commercial and hospitality projects across India.
Aman leads the studio's design direction and stays close to every site. Beyond the studio, he writes about the realities of building in Delhi: what it costs, what to check before construction starts, and why the best projects start with the right client. He also speaks on where architecture is headed.
In 2026 he moderated a panel at Design Democracy in Hyderabad that asked whether buildings should still be designed to last a hundred years.
The studio's work has been recognised with iGen 50 Under 40 (2026), Young Icon from Architecture + Design (2025) and ID Honours Best Emerging Design Firm (2023), and published in leading architecture and design magazines across India.

Why is the first consultation at Unbox Design paid?
Because it is real work, not a sales meeting. The first engagement covers time with you and on site, and ends with a written brief and an estimate of budget and timeline for your project. If you go ahead with Unbox Design, the fee is adjusted against the design fee.

How long does it take to build or renovate a home in Delhi?
It depends on the scope of work and conditions on site: the size of the project, whether it is new construction or a renovation, approvals and site access. Unbox Design sets out a realistic timeline in the first engagement, and because design and construction sit with one team, the programme is planned together from the start.

Does Unbox Design offer design-only services?
Yes. Unbox Design takes on design-only commissions for architecture and interiors, as well as full design and build. Most clients choose design and build because it protects the design through construction, but the choice is yours.

Does Unbox Design handle building plan approvals?
Yes. For new buildings and structural renovations, Unbox Design prepares the drawings and coordinates building plan approvals through a liaison consultant the studio works with regularly, so you have one point of contact from design to sanction.
05.
How involved will I be in the design process?
As involved as you want to be. Unbox Design shares the thinking behind every decision, not just the renders, and you review each design stage and the material selections with the team. During construction you have one project lead to talk to, and regular site visits to see the work progress.

Does Unbox Design create Vastu-compliant homes?
Yes. Unbox Design incorporates Vastu into home design and is honest about the trade-offs. Many Vastu principles on light, air and orientation align with good architecture. Where a rule conflicts with the site or the way a family lives, the studio explains the trade-off so you can make an informed decision.
We believe good design and material honesty go hand in hand. That is longevity.
Every Unbox project is planned as a functional, low-maintenance framework first. In the past, spaces were designed to impress on handover day — today, they need to hold up five years in, whether that's a home, an office floor, or a restaurant kitchen. We choose finishes that age with a space, not just photograph well on day one.
