Jamna Auto Industries has spent seven decades building leaf and parabolic springs — the components that quietly absorb load and stress in nearly every commercial vehicle on Indian roads. It's a business built on tension, flexibility, and engineered strength. Their old office reflected none of that. It was dated, hierarchical, and increasingly at odds with the kind of young engineering and design talent the company needed to attract.

The brief was really about closing that gap — between a company at the forefront of automotive suspension technology, and an office that looked like it belonged to a different era. A 4,000 sq ft floor in Gurugram gave us the room to make that shift physical, not just cosmetic.

The first move was structural: away from a cabin-heavy hierarchy and into an open plan, where the workstation zone — wood-toned desks, patterned partition screens, layered pendant lighting — reads as one continuous, collaborative space rather than a grid of departments. Meeting rooms and breakout zones sit at the edges, visible through glazed partitions rather than sealed off behind doors.

Material told the rest of the story. Reception is anchored by a black marble counter beneath a branched, linear light fixture — a form that echoes the geometry of a leaf spring itself, tension held in a single sculptural gesture. Fluted timber panelling runs behind the JAI signage, warming what could otherwise read as a purely industrial palette. In the pantry, patterned tile and warm wood cabinetry soften the everyday spaces, with a red ceiling accent pulling through the brand's own colour identity.

The result is an office that doesn't illustrate what Jamna Auto Industries makes — it behaves like it. Precise where it needs to be, flexible where it counts, and built, quite literally, to hold weight lightly.
