A lot of design in this country still starts from the outside — from a reference image, a trend, an expectation of what a space is supposed to look like. We start from the opposite end.

Unbox Design is an architecture and interior design studio based in Delhi. Founded by Aman Issar, we work across residential, commercial, office, and hospitality projects in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, and across India. Our practice spans architecture, landscape design, and interiors — and we handle it all in-house, from first sketch to final build.

Our first question is never about form. It's about the person: how they live or work, what their days feel like, what a space needs to do before it can be allowed to look like anything. The design follows from that — which is why our projects tend to look quite different from each other. Because the people and places we're designing for are quite different from each other.

Being a design and build studio means we don't hand over drawings and walk away. We stay through material selection, execution, and the thousand decisions that happen on site that no drawing can fully anticipate. It's where design intentions either survive or get lost, and we've chosen to be present for that. The result is spaces where the detail holds up in person, not just on screen.

Aman Issar, founder and studio head, started his career in 2013 at a small practice specialised in Residential and Hospitality Design in Goa, India. Later in 2015, he joined the internationally acclaimed design practice Studio Lotus in 2015 where he worked on and headed diverse range of projects.

​

After years of teaming up with like minded creatives and delivering successful projects, he ventured to set up UnBox. His interest in how spaces shape daily experience — not just how they appear in photographs — has been the guiding instinct behind the studio since day one.

The decision to build as well as design came from the same place: a belief that a space is only as good as its execution, and that the architect's eye belongs on site as much as it belongs on paper.
